“Do you think Boise should be considered for the playoffs sitting at 11-0?” And the responses would always be “they just haven’t played a strong enough schedule.”
Then they’d get the G5 “keep them happy” prize which is a NY6 bowl which is not what anyone is really after if they have any competitive fire whatsoever.
Our schedule next year has 6 P5 teams. Not exactly a P5 schedule yet but getting there. If we were to go undefeated next year, we’d definitely at least be in the discussion. Especially if Boise and San Diego State could help us out and be ranked. Now, do I expect us to go undefeated? No. But at least we are playing a schedule worthy of getting us in the mix. The team has to get better.
I much prefer the concept that our team improve rather than just saying we belong with lower level teams. When I was a kid, I wanted to get better at basketball so I could one day beat my dad. I didn’t want to stop playing my dad and start playing my sister.
