Moving the workout, fussing about liability waivers, ranting the way he did about owners and teams... none of that makes sense for a guy who’s actually wanting to play.
And when you think about it, it makes sense. He has much more economic power being the martyr. Being the guy who the NFL “won’t sign.” If he comes in as a backup, plays a few quarters of mediocre football, and then disappears, he’s gone, and his economic power is gone too. What he’s doing now keeps him alive and in the public consciousness.
