BYU did not have the current triple whammy of recruiting restrictions during our heyday.
The combination of strict honor code enforcement, high academics, and religion has significantly reduced the recruiting pool well beyond what it used to be.
I’d like to see us be a whole lot more welcoming and less judgmental to the Jamaal Williams and Bernard Francis types.
Allowing the honor code office to serve as judge, jury, and executioner is over the top. Let’s apply compassion and do what is best for the individual.
