The .45 is rather large for CC. But is an amazing weapon to shoot. The recoil is not bad at all and it is very accurate. If I had an intruder in my home this is the pistol, I'd want to have in my hands. My first preference would be a tactical shotgun, but that's harder to keep put away etc.
The slimline is fantastic for carrying and has all the benefits of less expensive 9mm etc. Shooting it is not much fun. Light gun = recoil and isn't as easy as the .45 to be accurate.
Both seem to be well built and are reliable. Springfield has more top of the line reputation. Taurus doesnt have a bad reputation but doesnt seem to be "top of the line."
