I view Cougarboard more as a BYU "critic" board than a BYU "fan" board.

Definitions of a fan from various sources:

-a person who has a strong interest in or admiration for a particular person or thing
-an enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport or a performing art) usually as a spectator
-an ardent admirer or enthusiast (as of a celebrity or a pursuit)
-a person who is very much interested in and spends a lot of time watching or reading about esp. an entertainer or sports team
-someone who admires and supports a person, sport, sports team, etc.
-If you are a fan of someone or something, especially a famous person or a sport, you like them very much and are very interested in them.

Definition of a critic from various sources:

-a person who expresses an unfavorable opinion of something.
-one given to harsh or captious judgment
-one who expresses a reasoned opinion on any matter especially involving a judgment of its value, truth, righteousness, beauty, or technique
-a person who judges, evaluates, or criticizes
-a person who tends too readily to make captious, trivial, or harsh judgments; faultfinder.
-a person who expresses disagreement with something or disapproval of someone
-someone who says that they do not approve of someone or something

By viewing Cougardboard as a critic board, it helps me deal with the prevalent negative posts despite the team's hard work and improvement. I don't mean those that share interesting statistics and facts which are positive or negative. And I don't means those that acknowledge and raise concern for our team flaws after celebrating our accomplishments and victory. I mean the doomsayers that seem eager to complain about a win even before first celebrating the win. A fan is enthusiatic and has admiration. The critic has a duty to pass judgement.
