Help me wrap my head around a square footage problem (particularly math people)
Say I have a room that is 1,000 square feet. There are a ton of different possibilities for a room with 1,000 square feet.

100 feet by 10 feet = 1,000 square feet
50 feet by 20 feet = 1,000 square feet
40 feet by 25 feet = 1,000 square feet

What I can't wrap my head around is that the perimeter measurements are different for each option.

100 x 10 = 220 foot perimeter
50 x 20 = 140 foot perimeter
40 x 25 = 130 foot perimeter

Wouldn't you think that 1,000 square feet would have the same perimeter measurements no matter which way you slice it? Aren't you just changing the shape and the give and take on the width/height? I guess not.
