No one has an issue with a player standing on second base watching signals being shared by the catcher. The issue is
that it's being done by people who aren't on the field, or who aren't players at all. Stealing signs from second base has been an age-old tactic and teams work around it because it's part of the game and it's happening on the field. Reading a pitcher's lips is an age-old tactic and teams work around it because it's part of the game and it's happening on the field. The issue is the use of off-the-field cameras and personnel.
