I grew up in Northern Nevada. My parents went to BYU and I loved BYU as a kid. In third grade (1986), we moved to Dugway, Utah (for one year). After we moved there, there was a punk kid who started picking on me relentlessly. He was SO MEAN. He was also the biggest kid in our grade. Almost every day he wore a gray hoodie with a blue monster truck on the front. On the back it said "BYU SUCKS!". I was confused as to why a third grader hated BYU. Turned out to be a Ute fan (slash BYU hater...who can say which was more important to him). Coming from Nevada I didn't even know who the Utes were so this entire thing was a rude awakening for me. This kid made third grade a living hell. Luckily we moved back to Nevada for fourth grade and I didn't have to deal with haters growing up. It wasn't until I attended BYU myself that I again got to see the hatred coming from Ute fans. Kudos to those of you who live in Utah and have to hear and listen to these guys on a daily basis. I don't know how you do it.
