had a lifetime stutter.
People seem to make fun of how he talks sometime, or they assume he is having a stroke or some other mental incapacity.
Being a semi-expert on stuttering, I can see fairly easily that he is just getting caught on certain hard sounds (F's, T's, B's etc) Every once in a while he repeats sounds (I, I, I) He also seems to kind of change thoughts mid-sentence. This is usually called avoidance or substitution...he knows there is a difficult sound coming up and he doesn't want to stutter. So he just kind of changes his mind half way through a sentence and says something else that he thinks will be easier to pronounce.
Anyway, I realize that most people that have never had any experience with stuttering would not understand what is happening and just assume things.
I vehemently disagree with Joe on probably anything politically, but thought I would try to educate anyone that is interested in learning more about what is actually going on with his speech.
As an aside, I can certainly be the CougarBoard expert on suttering if needs be. If anyone has a question or problem, don't hesitate to reach out to me.
In this case, the CB username truly checks out 🙂
