We lost a great BYU athlete, funeral today for Jack Mohr. Murdered at 52 by a su
suspect running from police. Somehow ended up in Jack's apartment and shot him before shooting himself.

Jack threw discus, hammer and shot put for BYU in the early 90s, becoming an all-american in the hammer throw and qualifying for the olympic trials. He also played freshman football and was slotted to be the long snapper after his mission but focused on track and field instead.

He served as a leader in the community, for Exxon, and for the Church, serving at a bishop and in the stake presidency. His favorite calling was as a scoutmaster. He loved mentoring young men.

He was just one of those good guys. A great father and husband. Kind to everyone around him, the same at work, church and home. Extremely bright, capable, humble.

He leaves behind his wife and 4 children, youngest is 15, 2 at Texas A&M, one married. They have been amazing, both in private and at the funeral as they testified to the community, many not members of the Church, of the reality of the Savior and their faith and knowledge of where Jack is and that they will be with him again.
