BYU had to use Luke sparingly due to his perpetual injuries
Even during his Doak Walker winning season, I think Luke averaged well under 20 rushes per game. Many of the games he did not really need to play much after halftime. If they wanted they could have gotten Luke well over 200 many times, and over three hundred a few times.
