Sure didn't. Plus, the two situations aren't remotely comparable
Basketball doesn't have anywhere near the amount of limitations that football does. Right now, the BYU HC job is viewed as one of, and possibly the single hardest job in all of college football.

A younger, successful FCS head coach like Hill will have better opportunities for other jobs that will be more likely to springboard him to success than BYU will.
