I assume BYU does this in practice but it looks like they may not
If you shoot basketballs at practice speed and not game speed then you’ll probably notice you can’t throw the ball in the ocean from a boat during games. Likewise, place kick or punt at practice speed without live rush and ability to get it blocked then during game speed they’re likely to choke.

Ever notice the booming punts and kicks made during pregame warmups? All American stuff! Game comes and it looks like our guys are kicking the ball off their shins or something. Like, what happened from just a few minutes ago when they were kicking balls above the lights with perfect spirals turning over and traveling into the stands at times from the 50 years line? Didn’t that same “doinker” from 28 yards make kicks from 50 yards through the uprights during pregame?

Big mistake in practice will cause this. I’ve seen it for years now. Hope this isn’t happening to BYU. I’ve heard practices are a cake walk by some who left the program and went to Utah or other places to play. You play like you practice holds true!
