This is what worries me the most about BYU sports right now
If my son was a big time recruit in football or basketball I don’t think BYU would be my top choice for them. From a spiritual standpoint of course I want them to have the BYU experience like I did but if they had a legit shot to play at the next level or just be a college star I don’t know if I would push BYU and I never thought I would say that.

Football is in this weird flux where I have little confidence in our coaches and our seasons have been very forgetful and meaningless for the last six years or so. It hasn’t been fun to watch as a fan and I can only imagine it hasn’t been super fun to play for either. At least it doesn’t seem as fun as it would’ve 10 years ago when we were winning consistently and competing for conference championships.

I would be even less excited about the thought of them playing WCC basketball where most of our schedule is against irrelevant teams in empty gyms and we have very little room for error to make a tourney run.

It pains me to say this because I’ve always been the biggest BYU fan but if my son was like Dad I’m not going to BYU I don’t think I would blame him. And that makes me worry about our recruiting for the next little bit.
