The media was pretty tough on him. Fans also had thin skin with some of his comments. Bronco went all in
on the “We represent the LDS faith” motivation and probably shared that mission a bit more freely to the outside world than he maybe should have. It made the media think he was a bit nutty, it alienated the non-lds or inactive lds portion of fans, and then the Pharisee type comments bothered even the active lds fans.
I’m saying yes, he was treated unfairly and more harshly than he should have but he did kind of bring it on himself and I think he enjoyed doing that.

Gordon Monson was deeply offended by Bronco quoting from the BoM in his first press conference, and he never forgave

AND, Bronco shut down practices and severely limited press coverage so local media didn't like that either
