Gordon Monson was deeply offended by Bronco quoting from the BoM in his first press conference, and he never forgave
Bronco for that. I mean, Monson was still talking about that 10 years later. It was astonishing how tenaciously he held onto that. (It's been a very long time since I've listened to Monson, so maybe he's finally let that go. But I wouldn't be surprised at all of he still brings it up from time to time.)
Other media members didn't seem to like it, either, even if they didn't take it as far as Monson did.
So Bronco got off on the wrong foot with the local media right from the start. And his relationship with them never got much better.

The media was pretty tough on him. Fans also had thin skin with some of his comments. Bronco went all in

AND, Bronco shut down practices and severely limited press coverage so local media didn't like that either
