Meh, defamation. Yeah, the press liked to pick on Bronco, but he's a big boy.

And a very public figure.  I have seen the press in other parts of the country go after coaches in a much nastier manner than they ever went after Bronco.

Sometimes I am also intrigued how indignant many people on CB are on behalf of Bronco.  It's almost like they have some document deputizing them to defend Bronco at every turn even though, gasp, he doesn't give a rat's fanny about them.

I suspect that if Bronco had a bunch of CB's biggest Bronco fans in a room, he would probably tell them that he is appreciative of their care, but they're not helping and they should move on; he and his multi-million dollar contract can take care of themselves.  It's almost as weird as the Salt Lake press's obsession.

And let's face it, Bronco didn't always help himself with the press.  Bronco wasn't a weird guy - tone-deaf at times, yes; but he played into a perception that became a reality.  Playing into a less than flattering public perception has been the downfall of many public figures.  Whether the reality was different or not.

That said, the Utah press and its unhealthy obsession with picking at Bronco was/is weird.  I'm sure somebody can dig something up, but I don't remember reading stories from major press outlets outside of Utah that zeroed in on the minutia that passed for journalism along the Wasatch Front.
