6-7 was an outstanding year for Virginia football and pretty much everyone within the program thought so. Why? Because it has been a while since they were 6-7 and culture had been changed. 8-5 was again another huge success. It certainly wasn't a rebuild. Now was it building the program up to another level? Sure. LaVell wasn't rebuilding in 1979, 1980 and 1981. But were those the top win totals of his regime? Nope.
You see a rebuild is when you take a momentary step back from where you have been. Virginia hadn't been to a bowl since 2011 so 2017 was a great season where they went to a bowl. 2018 was a step forward and 2019 has gone even farther than that.
Had BYU gone back to being a top 40 Sagarin team after their 2017 disaster then I would have called that season a rebuild. It wasn't. The program simply has gone down with a new coach and isn't what it once was as the last two years have taught us.
Your whole thing about Utah State playing freshman was funny. A look at that supposed rebuilding team shows quite the opposite:

Oh by the way, this was the rebuilding year for Utah State who lost a ton of talent LAST year.
