That’s the Ute fan narrative but it isn’t really true either...
Utah was acknowledged to be in front of Oklahoma in the metrics at that point but almost every single thing I saw over the weekend was that the winner of the Oklahoma/Baylor game would leap over Utah based on the fact that team just got a top 10 win whereas even if Utah beats Oregon they still won’t have one.

There were certainly talking heads saying they thought Utah should get in but that is not the same as saying they will get in. In fact at this point it would appear Utah has little chance since the likelihood of Clemson losing or OSU losing as not very good and the BIG 12 team will pass them up with a win and the SEC champ will be in no matter what.

In fact I don’t see Utah passing over OSU or Clemson even if one of them does lose so really Utah’s only chance is for Baylor to beat Oklahoma and even if they do that they have a much better win than anything Utah has plus they played in a better conference than Utah did.

I think Utah is out already and all that is left is the begging, pleading, and hand wringing justifications.
