I so want to give more of my heart to BYU. I joined the church and went off to BYU, and even then (WAC days), I had a hard time going all in. It always just felt like the best-case scenario was getting into the Holiday Bowl. And even winning that felt underwhelming. If they could ever get into a Power 5 conference, they'd probably jump up right around the level of the Rockies, as far as my passion goes.

On the other hand, hating the Utes is something I can really get behind. And my hatred is so organic, it's almost lovely. When I first went to BYU (again, with no exposure to the church), I thought the BYU-Utah rivalry was sort of quaint. I grew up with Colorado-Nebraska ("Sal's dead! Go Big Red!" - you can google it, if you want perspective. I, to this day, hate Nebraska.) But this was generally Mormons fighting with Mormons. It seemed cute. Now, I've had time to see how completely insane Ute fans are. I live in SL County, and it's just gross. I want to see their spirits broken.
