If you look at BYU's football staff, we have one person (Tasha Bell) on staff who is designated as having recruiting as their primary function. She's a part-time football employee who is primarily a family counselor/therapist at BYU. Obviously Fitisemanu is also heavily involved in evaluating and identifying potential recruits. If you add Bell and fitisemanu together, you might get one full time position dedicated to recruiting.
Compare that to other schools. I'm in Missouri, so I looked at Mizzou's staff. Mizzou has the following on staff:
1 FT Director of Recruiting
1 FT Director of Player Personnel
1FT Assistant Director of Recruiting
2 Graphic designers for Recruiting
4 Recruiting Grad Assistants (not to be confused with regular grad assistants)
That's 9 positions a very average SEC team has just to support recruiting. At BYU we maybe have the equivalent of 1 position. If BYU is running a budget surplus every year, it seems like investing in recruiting might be a good place to look to spend some of those funds.
