Which of these contemporary diet and nutrition doctrines do you believe
and which do you think are bunk?

1. Overconsumption of refined carbs and sugar is the biggest culprit in obesity, insulin resistance, and type 2 diabetes

2. Whole vegetables and fruits are more satiating per calorie than processed foods not only because they typically have more fiber and volume per calorie but also because they usually contain more nutrition per calorie and the body craves nutrients at least as much at it craves calories

3. Eating foods that are relatively high in cholesterol (e.g., eggs) does not correlate to unhealthy blood cholesterol levels

4. A person who restricts their eating window to 8 hours or less per day will, all else being equal, have better insulin response and ultimately lower body fat than a person having a longer eating window

5. A person who consumes a relatively higher percentage of fats and lower percentage of carbohydrates will, all else being equal, have better insulin response and ultimately lower body fat than a person who consumes a relatively higher percentage of carbohydrates and lower percentage of fats

6. Animal products, particularly red meat and dairy, are generally unhealthy for human consumption

7. Foods introduced into the human diet subsequent to the advent of agriculture and domestication of animals are generally less healthy for human consumption than foods eaten by humans prior to that time

8. Gluten is per se unhealthy and people should generally strive to consume as little wheat-based food as possible

9. The artificial sweetners in diet beverages interfere with gut flora, which among other things, leads to slower metabolism

10. Soy products, particularly soy milk, reduce testosterone levels and cause feminizing effects in males
