Evidently it does. But it's still surprising to see.
And it's not like USC is looking to recapture some kind of playoff or national championship glory that Helton previously produced. He did well in 2016 and 2017, but nothing great by relatively recent USC standards (since early 2000s). I'm guessing it came down to money and boosters being unwilling to pony up the cash needed to buy him out and attract a top-flight coach in his place.
