I've been a diehard Cougar fan since birth. Have attended many football and basketball games growing up in Utah. Still attend one home and one road game a year even though I'm out of state. Married a fellow cougar fan and we have 4 young kids that are following in our footsteps. But now have to ask myself, why? Is it time to let go and just settle into being a neutral sports fans. Sadly in 2019, the ceiling is so low for our major sports and it's not going to get better. Tonight was one of the most embarrasing choke jobs I've ever witnessed as a BYU fan and I watch every game.
I've tried rooting for UofA or ASU, living in Arizona and can't get into either program at all. Thinking of adopting the Final Four and a CFP seminfinal as the annual sports road trip for me and the boys. I already know I'm giving up the chance of experiencing the euphoric feeling of watching a Jimmer, John Beck, or Max Hall take down the utes, or the chance at another unforgettable night at Neyland Stadium with my wife and son. Sucks, but being present for one of those is like winning the lottery these days. I respect any and all of you that refuse to quit the Cougars. Keep carrying the torch. Never go to the dark side. Utes will always suck, regardless of anything else going on in the sports universe.
