I'm trying to decide how much joy/fun BYU sports has brought me. It's only ever just entertainment, but the outcomes clearly affect my joy/happiness/how-entertained-I-was.
Football, the win over USC was very satisfying. Beating Tennesee was very entertaining. I was at BSU and USU, both were good times.
Basketball. . . Wins over Utah. That's about it. The wins over Gonzaga in years past were great wins, but in the absence of a conference title, an NCAA appearance, or some other achievement they didn't have much lasting effect.
I like beating the bad teams we play in football. But it's hard to dedicate fourish hours for away games, as many as 8 to go to a home game, to watch us beat programs I think about. . . . never.
So, yeah. Following BYU is a hobby. As long as I'm not giving up better things for it, I'll keep doing it. But the list of "better things" is growing as BYU sports have been uninteresting and under performing.
