Because I hate myself, I compared our roster to Utah's for future games

What I found wasn't encouraging...

Here’s what I got for us. Feel free to chime in if I missed anyone.

Departing seniors-

Childs, Haws, Nixon, Seljaas, Toolson, Troy and Maughan. Troy and Maughan aren’t going to be big losses, since they’ve contributed only a little bit, but everyone else here is a major loss.

Returning underclassmen (assuming no transfers)-

Barcello, Lee, Harding, Baxter, Wade, Nield, Lowell, Harward, Pearson, Knell. Barcello, Lee, and Harding are either key players or solid contributors, and Baxter should go a long way towards replacing Yoeli, but everyone else on that list is either a minor contributor or unknown. Lowell will hopefully be ready to contribute quite a bit and get back to his WAC freshman of the year form, but I don’t know much about anyone else.

Incoming recruits and RMs-

Da Silva, Hansen. I know Hansen is planning on serving a mission, so he won’t be a factor on next year’s team, but I’m not sure about Da Silva. I don’t believe we have any recruits returning from missions, unless Erickson comes back early.

With so many seniors departing, it looks like we’re going to have to hit the transfer portal and hopefully find some key pieces to help replace the departing production.

Now for Utah…

Departing seniors-

Reninger. Looks like he hasn’t played at all yet this season. Minimal career stats. Guessing he’s a walk-on.

Returning underclassmen-

Literally their entire roster except Reninger. That includes Allen (20.4 ppg), Jones (12.9 ppg), Gach (12.0 ppg), and Battin (10.6 ppg). Last night, those four alone combined for 72 points against us. Knowing 80K, he’ll probably have at least two or three guys transfer out after this season, but right now I don’t have any guesses on who it will be. Hopefully some of their big contributors.

Incoming recruits-

Martinez, Lohner, Larsson, Falslev. Martinez and Lohner are four star recruits, Larsson is a high three star, and Falslev is a middle of the road three star. Having watched Falslev play in person, I think that ranking is a little low, but I’m pretty sure he’s going on a mission before playing. 247 has their class as the 10th best in the country. That’s insane.

Long story short… It looks like they’ve got a really good roster coming back, and ours looks a little shaky. Hopefully we get some good transfers and home court advantage is good to us next year, because if not, I’m not sure we’ll be beating them again for a few years.
