At best they're a top 20 team. Utah is 1 of only 5 teams in the top 20 to not have a single win against a current top 25 team. The only other team besides Utah in the top 10 without a top 25 win is Clemson, who actually went undefeated, are the defending national champs, and will beat #23 Virginia today. Utah's resume always more closely fit that of #19 Boise State or #20 Cinci, where neither had a top 25 win. Even Bama, the last top 20 team without a top 25 win, is ranked #12. Oregon lost to Auburn in their OOC game, and Auburn finished tied for 5th in the SEC. That should have been the first red flag the PAC12 was soft.

The PAC12 finished OOC play with the worst record against the other P5 conferences of the 5 major conferences, and also finished 4-4 against the MWC. That should have been the second red flag the PAC12 wasn't at the same level as the other 4 conferences.

Utah lost to #22 USC when USC had their back-up QB knocked out 2 plays into the game, so then USC was playing their 3rd string who probably got close to 0 reps in practice throughout the week. In fact, USC never trailed that game. That should have been the third red flag Utah wasn't a real CFP contender.

Then Utah had to pull off a comeback in the second half against a 7-5 Washington team, to win by a measly 5 points. That should have been the fourth red flag Utah wasn't a real CFP contender.

Utah running up the score in classic, classless Whittingham fashion against the pathetic PAC12 south got me believing that Utah would win the PAC12 and go to the Rose Bowl. But nope, turns out even that was fraudulent as well. Utah got outclassed by Oregon all game other than a brief 10 minute span in the second half. And Oregon will be lucky to finish in the top 10 when all is said and done.

Any of you "BYU fans" who chugged Utah's red kool-aid need to watch more football east of the Rockies. It was very apparent Utah is not one of the top 10 teams in the nation. Utah was 0-1 against a fringe top 25 team going into last night, and their best win was paltry compared to the best wins of other top 10 teams. When Utah played a real top 20 team, they were exposed. They're still a great team, top 11-20 team in the nation, but not elite, and certainly not worthy of even CFP consideration, let alone an actual berth.
