I grew up in downtown Salt Lake. I was one of 20 BYU fans in my middle school.
My bishops were professors at the U. My teachers were U fans. I could go on and on.
The rivalry was fun for a long time. Then the U and it’s leaders took it to a dark place that it hasn’t recovered from. The OP is spot on. The sad thing is your fan base largely lacks the self-awareness to see what they did to the rivalry and have become. Comments like yours only reinforces that perception.
