I am not calling out the OP as so many of us do this. I also wanted a different thread to not pull away from the feedback due BYUTV.
This happens a lot when a complaint or even an observation of something that could be better is shared. Often the response is "Well, we used to have this really major thing we had to do so this new minor inconvenience isn't worth me complaining about." An example where this happens a lot is when expressing a desire for a Temple closer to home. Say something like "it would be great to have a Temple in our city so we didn't have to drive an hour plus to attend". There is inevitably a clapback of "I grew up 15 hours from the nearest Temple so you should be grateful for what we have".
This comparison to how it used to be ignores progress made and how it can be. In the example of the BYUTV sign in, yeah, you may have had to listen from a hill 20 minutes from home but fixing this sign in issue is not that big of a deal and doesn't exist in countless apps that are out there. It is great that entering your credentials is so much better than a drive and a scratchy radio. But that isn't the relative comparison... technology has progressed. Using the best of it isn't that big of a change in this case.
On the Temple, there is a concerted effort to get Temples closer to more people. Hoping and wishing for one closer to home isn't expressing a lack of gratitude for the Temple a couple hours away. It is a hope that the current effort to build more Temples and make Temple attendance more convenient reaches your city. That isn't a stretch of a hope.
