When a new quarter begins, where should the team with the ball pass it in? At the far end of the court, half court, or the near end of the court.

To start the 4th the ref gave the ball to our opponent under their own basket. They were confused and dribbled toward our end when we stole it and dribbled back to their basket and scored - giving them 2 points (and is the ball to go the other way).

There was too much chaos for me to think about it at the time, but I think the ref made the mistake of giving our opponent the ball under their own hoop to start the quarter (thus causing all the confusion).

Also, we had an “own goal” earlier in the game where our kid grabbed a defensive rebound and shot it right up again for a score. We lost 10-11 but scored 14 points while they scored 7. Fun times.
