believing Lucas saved the day. The guy is abysmal with dialogue and directing actors. He had a great idea and was a pioneer in special effects. But even A New Hope had to be saved from being a train wreck by some of his director friends (including, I think, Spielberg). From what I’ve read it didn’t make any sense to viewers before his friends got involved.
