Most of the negative response is to terrible plot holes and missteps that were
largely forgiven in the first movie due to the nostalgia factor, but made worse in the last movie. Things like light speed through shields making all the space battles unnecessary, and force ghosts using the force, making you wonder why they never join in the fight.
At least those are the things that stand out to me. The Mary Poppins moment made me laugh, but it didn't undo many of the plot elements of the original trilogy.
