That's too bad. They should feel like a business whose primary goal
CC's primary goal should be to create a richly connected community for alumni, especially donors, around BYU sports. The next goal, a close second should be to increase donations to the athletic department. I strongly believe this is the only way to really make it work well. Community and connection first, and then the funds will increase.

Just sitting back and saying, we don't need to do much other than court large donors will not cut it. Sure a large donor organization should exist and thrive, but not at the expense of everything else.

If this was a business, they would have all kinds of programs and perks that don't eat up all of their funds. They would be marketing and reaching out all over. They have so many built-in customers and so much data about people with a propensity to donate. Most startups would kill for that kind of launching pad! Their sense of community and connection would be the differentiator. Who can create that better than the school themselves?
