I know there are many other names I am missing that could help illustrate my point.

The bottom line is that BYU used to be the premiere program in the state. They never landed all the LDS and in state talent, and even in an ideal situation they never will, but they did a pretty dang good job of keeping Utahns and Mormons home. If you go back even 10 years and look at the in state rankings, you will see that BYU still did pretty well in state. Since independence and Utahs PAC 12 invitation, BYU has progressively done worse in state and head to head with Utah. We are losing the kids that made us great, the kids we used to get, and the kids that helped us beat Utah for almost three decades.

People crap on me for my "negativity", but the reality is that BYU as a program is SIGNIFICANTLY weaker than it was a decade ago, even five years ago. The reality is that BYU is sliding into irrelevance, and it has very little do do with Kalani or Bronco, and everything to do with the gosh awful leadership at the university. BYU botched expansion. Twice. They should have done whatever it took to get a seat at the P5 table. But their ineptitude, pride, and arrogance kept us out, and now we are stuck in independence hell.

The point of all this is to say BYU simply doesn't have anything to offer elite recruits anymore. There isn't a legitimate argument that can be made for choosing BYU over P5 schools like USC, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon, Washington, and especially Utah. We no longer have a pitch. And that is reflected in the recruiting rankings.
