That's the reason I responded the way I did. If, in the next round of realignment coming (2023-2025) BYU is left out and (given my 110% belief that the CFP will expand to 8 teams and the best G5 will get an auto-bid), YES, I much prefer a G5 conference (preferably the AAC) over independence.

Independence is playing 13 exhibition games per year. You never know which BYU team is going to show up...the one that beat USC and Tenn or the one that lost to Utah, Washington, Toledo, USF, and SDSU. I don't like watching BAD football, even from my favorite team. I don't expect BYU to win every game. I expect them to compete...every game. Independence has removed that from the DNA of BYU football.
