Decades ago Hawaii used to be the largest producer of pineapple, but for the same reasons electronics and clothing manufacturing went overseas, pineapples are commercially produced elsewhere. It's much cheaper to pay cheap central American labor than it is to pay wages to workers in Hawaii.
