During my years working in the Boise market...I was there covering the Broncos when Pokey was hired and got to know him and his OC Al Borgess really well.

This was a time when BSU football was a total joke. They came in and started building the program. IMO... they laid the groundwork that Chris Peterson took and ran with later on.

Anyway...I was thinking about Borgess today. Short... balding guy...bachelor who was a total character and hoot to be around...and a brilliant offense mind. I often hung out with him downtown outside of practices and games.

After leaving BSU...I think he was UCLA's OC for a while... but I've lost track of him.

Wistfully wishing we could get an exciting...innovative OC to come to Provo and reboot our offense.
