There's some truth here
It's been a bit of time since I was a coach or an official. However, when I was I spoke to many LDS prospects and the truth is there are many that are wary of independence. The four and five start guys will at least explore other possibilities and independence is one of the reasons.

Almost 5 star (.97 composite) LDS OL with BYU in his top 4 and his brother at BYU and he goes to UVA? Not a good look.
