Thoughts on game with USU
1. Haws was on fire to start the game. When he is hot like that he can definitely carry a team.

2. I was impressed that BYU could beat a team like USU with Tolson having a mediocre shooting game.

3. The change in BYU's defense from the last few years to this year is incredible. Shows you how big of an impact coaching can have. I'm afraid USU wins this game going away if BYU had the same players they have now with the previous coaching staff.

4. Yoeli is gradually finding how to play with this team. He will get better and better.

5. Lee has become a big contributor. That will be critical for BYU's success this year.

6. Although Barcello struggled early, he came up gigantic at the end of the game. So happy to see that. Also happy to hear Yoeli's comments about him in the post-game interview on BYUTV.

7. This team has so many good shooters that even when 1 or 2 are having off nights shooting, others will pick up the slack.

8. Great move by USU to go to the zone defense. It rattled BYU for awhile. It allowed USU to get back in the game after they were down by about 10 points. Attacking the zone will definitely need to be a point of emphasis in upcoming practices. With the shooters they have, BYU should be able to bust a zone more easily.

9. I'm very impressed with the USU coach and team. They play great defense and play a hard and clean. Someone else mentioned they're an easy team to root for. I agree.

10. I enjoy watching BYU basketball more this year than I have since the Jimmer years. I have more hope for BYU's ability to win the games they should (no head-scratching losses) than in the years since they joined the WCC. I feel like this BYU will be able to legitimately compete with the Zags and St Mary's. Not saying necessarily that BYU will beat those teams, but I can't see those games being blowout losses.

11. I wish I had the same positive feeling about the trajectory of the BYU football team as I do about the basketball team.
