Despite living in American Fork, I'm in an ISP desert. My house was built in a
small inner-block development a few years ago. Comcast is unable to connect to our houses without building out additional infrastructure. Century Link can only offer speeds up to 5 mbps. So I (and my neighbors) went with a local outfit called AF Connect. They have 2 tiers and I pay for the higher tier. I'm supposed to get speeds up to 30 mbps, but I frequently get speeds well under 5 mpbs. They simply don't have the infrastructure and personnel to guarantee what I am paying for. It's crazy that in 2019, you can live in a densely populated area and have no good options for high speed internet. I'm super jealous of all of you that live in areas with fiber.

In American Fork, we're close to the midway point between two population centers that have some of the best ISP options in the country. It sucks to be so close, yet so far away. American Fork is doing a study to determine if it's worth it to use tax dollars to build out some infrastructure to entice one of the big players to give us some of that sweet, sweet gigabit per second speed.
