Taysom is a perfect second QB who can come in and mess up a defense, but...
I’m not sure he’s shown the deep passing ability of an NFL starter yet. Maybe he has in practice.

We’ve seen him throw essentially two deep completions in games. Both were underthrown, but that’s ok when you’re Taysom because the safety is drawn up to try to stop your running ability (they’re gonna need that safety).

With defenders in somewhat better position those kinds of underthrown deep balls are interceptions. If he’s a full-time starter I don’t know that safeties continue to let receivers run by them.

We’ve got a tiny sample size, so maybe he’s better on that than what we’ve seen. But that’s honestly all that I’ve seen that he lacks. And he brings a lot more that other QBs can’t. It’s a big deal though. Being a consistent threat to stretch the field makes an NFL offense work better in all other facets.

Also still worried about his ability to avoid injury as a starter with lots more carries. We know what happened at BYU. He’s running over people and stiff-arming just like he used to, but against NFL defenders now. He’s just a bad man.
