Was there not a dive in our football program when Heaps came in highly recruited and then struggled and then transferred? It felt like we could have recovered if not for Taysom Hills injuries. So to me the demise of our last decade of football was somewhat of a Heaps overrated/Taysom Hill injury debacle. I'm not sure our football program has recovered from those two events/happenings.
In basketball the LP3 came in with similar high expectations, but underperformed...2 of them left the program early and in Nick Emery's case he damaged the program with his suspension and vacation of wins. Tj Haws has survived and excelled. But I felt like our program took a little bit of a dive there at the end of the Dave Rose Era and that it had to do with a little bit of an overconfidence in the LP3. I think our team is now recovering from that era with the new coaching hire and a new plan.
So i guess my overall question is...would we have been better off if Heaps hadn't of signed and if the LP3 hadnt ever signed? Is BYU's cryptonite highly rated recruits? Do we do better with scrappy underrated overachievers?
