Question for the Rush fans:
I’ve heard Rush was a gateway drug to progressive rock. Was it for you? It was for me, and I’m interested in knowing if this is generally true. My appreciation for Rush’s virtuosity led me to like Yes, King Crimson, Peter Gabriel and a number of other bands / artists as a result. The appeal of their music wasn’t always just the tune, but listening to, say, Chris Squire or Tony Levin’s awesome bass / stick guitar riffs, and wondering how the band ever paired that with the guitarist’s and keyboardist’s solos. Kind of jazz on steroids. Same for you? If so, I’m interested in hearing what bands Rush led you to appreciate.

Of course my musical tastes also are divergent enough to allow me to like U2 and Twenty One Pilots, so maybe I’m different from the average Rush fan.
