I forget just how good Austin Collie was in the NFL before the injuries
Was he (or rather, could he have been) the best offensive pro football player from BYU since Steve Young?

In 2010, he started the year
Game 1: 11 catches on 12 targets, 163 yards, 1 TD
Game 2: 4 catches on 4 targets, 25 yards, 1 TD
Game 3: 12 catches on 16 targets, 171 yards, 2 TD
Game 4: 5 catches on 7 targets, 39 yards, 1 TD
Game 5: 5 catches on 6 targets, 48 yards
Game 6: 7 catches on 9 targets, 57 yards, 1 TD

That's when the injuries started. Collie only fully participated in two more games that year, totaling 13 catches on 16 targets, 147 yards, 2 TD in those contests. He finished the year with an 82% catch percentage. But after the 2nd concussion and a handful of other more minor injuries, he was never the same.

I remember seeing a fair share of #17 jerseys in the stands in Indy during that year. Now at 34 years old, Collie is just 6 months older than Julian Edelman, and in my opinion could be nearly just as productive at the same age.

I like to believe there's an alternate universe out there where Collie didn't take those hits, his body held together, and he had full season with numbers like those first six games of 2010. Sadly, we here are just stuck with the what-might-have been, and a mere six game streak of sheer excellence that will never be matched by another Cougar receiver in the pros ever again
