I applied for a management position at my company I knew I had little chance
of getting. I did it to put my name out there and make sure upper management knows I'm interested in leadership opportunities as our company grows. I interviewed for the position a week before Christmas and still haven't heard anything. The hiring manager scheduled a 15 minute follow up with me for Friday, which is pretty telling. Meanwhile they have continued conducting interviews with outside candidates with the involvement of members of my team, without any knowledge on my part. They only reason I found out was because I came back to my desk and everyone was gone so I started asking questions.

My point is that I think they've known for a while that I'm not being considered, yet they couldn't spend 5 minutes to tell me last week or even really this week. Instead they went all covert on me and treated me like an idiot.
