You are going to love it. My top recommendation is to always take the tours wherever you go. From

Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle, etc. the tour guides make the experience so much better. And the bus tour excursions take the guess work out of the trip. There really is so much to choose from in Scotland, so you really can't go wrong.

My kids favorite is a day in Stirling to see the Wallace Monument, Stirling Castle, and the Bannockburn attraction. You can do all 3 easily in one day.
