Everyone takes them off in Norway, where I served my mission. When I got
back, I was kind of grossed out by people not taking them off. But I'm back to being used to it again, and don't take them off except if they're dirty of wet.
Do you want shoes walking around on your carpet, or do you want someones sweaty foot socks walking around on your carpet?
Either way, we tend to get our carpets cleaned pretty often.
