Lombardi Walk-on
2019 recruiting class evaluation so far
The second phase of this year‘s recruiting class is about to close out, and the pressure is still on to bring in some guys that can contribute. So far, mostly it is a class built on hopefuls and projections rather than highly recruited athletes. However, recruiting is not an exact science and those projections may turn out to be good ones. Only time will tell. It’s worth taking a look at last year’s class, which was ranked in the 80s and averaged only .82 overall.

Blake Freeland. Already a starter with a lot of upside left.

George Udo. The spring will be big for him. it will be interesting to see if he stays at corner or is moved elsewhere. His film showed explosiveness and aggressiveness getting to the quarterback. Would he be better served at LB?

Carter Wheat. Spring ball will be big for him too. Can he get into the two deep?

Dimitri Gallow. We heard a lot about his press coverage skills but have yet to see him contribute. Was he a miss-evaluation? It happens fairly often when having to recruit based on projections.

Keanu Hill. Another case where spring ball will be huge for him. Usually the most growth for skill guys comes in the spring following their first year.

Javelle Brown. A lack of buzz here seems to indicate it may be sometime before contributing. Again, spring will be important to see.

Luke Andrada. His speed is legit but does that translate to football. If he is going to miss spring ball for track that is a concern. He needs the development.

Jacob Conover. Mission. Highly recruited. Smart QB.

Cade Albright. Mission. Highly recruited. Good athleticism and potential on the edge.

Elijah Unutoa. He should compete for 2 deep.

Chase Roberts. Will he ever contribute as expected? Injuries?

Brock Gunderson. A powerful guy that may develop into a good inside o lineman.

Michael Daley. Not a plugger. Outside guy that shows a knack for getting to the quarterback.

Caleb Christensen. Coaches were smart to gray shirt him and hopefully he will continue to develop the spring.

Eric Ellison. Will he ever make it into school? If he does, it would be a boon to this class.

Brooks Maile. Mission. Not highly recruited but IMO a good projection. Good student.

Ethan Erickson. Mission. Not highly recruited. Big frame. Will need time to develop as tight end, or could move to tackle.

Bruce Mitchell. Mission. Not highly recruited. Played at a very small school. With the lack of dl recruits recently, will he start there or on the offensive line?
