I don't know if miserable is the right word but for sure realizing no job is

truly an "easy" job. I work at a large CPA firm and the amount of hours and busy seasons one deals with can be miserable. Many of my coworkers have jumped ship to the industry only to realize that what seemed to be an amazing 15% increase in salary has caused them to plateu in their careers, while I feel each year I work here I become exponetially more valuable. Many have said they regretted leaving when they did and wished they had stayed for anther year or two.

I figure yeah busy season sucks and working 80 hour weeks sucks, but if I leave I won't magically be able to work 40 hour work weeks without risking becoming a staff accountant or senior accountant for the rest of my life. To your point, I recognize that if I go to another company there will be things that suck there as well. Therefore I have decided never to run away from a company because the hours suck or my manager is a jerk, I will only leave a company for a better opportunity.
