Are there any criminal defense attorneys on the board. I have never quite
understood why a defendant would follow the attorney's advice and not get on the stand.

Aren't lawyers officers of the court? As such shouldn't they stay away from trying to trap the defendant on the stand into saying something that looks bad but really isn't?

In a summation, are they allowed to spin the defendant's statements.

I have always thought if picked up by the cops, I will just be honest and happy to talk to the DA. Some have told me that would be nuts.
